Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper evaluates a bi-directional signal detection and decoding method with 16QAM for our previously proposed hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) using superposition coding (SPC-HARQ). The SPC-HARQ scheme multiplexes initial and retransmission packets within a same frequency band using superposition coding for improving the transmission efficiency at the retransmission. Since the superposition coding in the SPC-HARQ can be seen as a packet-level convolutional coding, the receiver can detect and decode the series of the received packets in the reverse order of the time slots in addition to the forward order, that is the bi-directional detection and decoding. The simulation results elucidate that the proposed bi-directional signal detection and decoding in SPC-HARQ can improve the throughput performance compared to the conventional HARQ and SPC-HARQ with forward decoding only when 16QAM data modulation is used as well as QPSK.
