Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The orbit of a discrete dynamical system in 3-dimensional space can be considered to be a kind of discrete signal. In this paper, we define the local fractal dimension (LFD) by using the "processing window" on the orbit. In order to evaluate the fractal information structure in the orbit, we propose a method with a moving LFD for signal processing by sliding the "processing window" along the line on the orbit. We selected the logistic mapping in each coordinate as an example and, on the basis of a computer simulation; we show that the probability distribution of the moving LFD becomes almost a normal distribution on the restricted range of the control parameter, which corresponds to the so-called chaotic areas, in the logistic mapping. Also, the relationships between the control parameter and the mean or standard deviation of the moving LFD or SN ratio are investigated. The proposed method can be used in the statistical quality control or general random processes with the same procedure.
