Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The internet provides a convenient life today, the personal information and proprietary information are transmitted in the current networks. Therefore the high security is expected to the network. The use of the mathematical encryption is a way to construct the highly secure network. The quantum stream cipher by Yuen 2000 protocol (Y-00) has a possibility that realizes the unbreakable security level. So far, the authors evaluated experimentally Y-00 performance of the security levels as well as the communication systems. The random cipher nature was experimentally measured as the security level evaluation. Y-00 transmission experiments were also demonstrated at the data rate over giga-bit per second in long distance optical fiber transmission lines. Y-00 features high compatibility with the current optical fiber communication systems. Therefore, the capacity of Y-00 transmission can be increased by the wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) scheme. In this report, a WDM transmission experiment is conducted where 4 wavelengths of intensity-modulated Y-00 signals at a bit rate of 2.5 Gb/s are multiplexed and the Y-00 signals are successfully transmitted over a 120-km transmission line.
