Correlation between orientation and polarized luminescence properties of platinum complexes in liquid crystals

Abstract(in English) Novel Pt complexes with rod-like ligands were synthesized, and they were mixed into liquid crystal. Oriented samples exhibited polarized emission property. Pt complex with ligand having long alkyl group generated high polarized emission: the polarization ratio amounted to 4.5 for the excimer in smectic liquid crystal phase. Pt complex with liquid-crystal like ligand was highly oriented, and it generated higher polarized emission.
