Automatic blink detection using pattern recognition of eye images

Abstract(in English) Video images of eye blinks during playing a game were compared to the templates of open and closed eye images. The template matching algorithm for detection of eye blinks was consisted of inexpensive USB cameras attached to note PCs or mobile phones. Blink detection based on the correlation coefficient of the analysis was evaluated. The result of the template matching algorism approximated to the observed blink waveform, however, some shapes of eye closure changed detection rates of the eye blink. For more accurate automatic blink detection, the template matching algorithm should be improved.
