Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to study whether stem cell-derived neurons were integrated into primary neuronal network, a co-culture device was developed, which can be utilized to compartmentalize primary cortical neurons and stem cell-derived neurons and record their spontaneous activities. After six days in co-culture, synchronized bursting between both neuronal networks was observed. Moreover, more than half of synchronized activities were generated by primary cortical neurons, and stem cell-derived neurons fired within 250 ms of bursting activity of cortical neurons. These results suggest that this co-culture device is useful for evaluating the interaction between primary and stem cell-derived neuronal networks.
