Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Both rTMS (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation) and tDCS (transcranial direct current stimulation) can modulate cortical excitability. Mu wave is traditionally defined as an 8-12Hz wave recorded over sensorimotor cortex. The aim of this study is to investigate the rTMS and tDCS effects on the power of mu wave, when rTMS and tDCS induce the facilitation or inhibition of cortical excitability. It was found that the anodal tDCS and the cathodal tDCS significantly affected the ERD (event related desynchronization) of mu wave. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in the cases of 1Hz rTMS, sham rTMS and sham tDCS.
