Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Understanding of the association between olfactory stimulation and brain wave response is not enough because of the difference of the presentation method of each odor and/or the difference of the materials studied. We classified two olfactory stimulations (perfume and 1-Pentine) as the degree of pleasant or unpleasantness by semantic questionnaire and studied the P300 component of auditory odd-ball task during the presentation of those stimulations. Subjects are 18 university students with normal hearing and olfactory functions. Results showed that P300 latency for Pentine had a tendency to be shorter than that for perfume while little tendency was observed for P300 amplitude. Excitant odor of Pentine might promote awareness and shorten the P300 latency than perfume.
