Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have proposed reverse-mode liquid crystal (LC) cells with twisted nematic orientation based on a nematic LC and a small amount of reactive mesogen. They have a transparent OFF state, which turns light scattering state after application of a suitable voltage. In this work, we prepared the cells using several nematic LCs and measured their electro-optical properties. Driving voltage of the cells doesn't depend on largeness of dielectric anisotropy of LCs and resistance of the cells, but is lower when the LC domain size of morphology is larger. The cells using LCs with high refractive index anisotropy have high contrast ratio regardless of the LC domain size.
