Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Polyvinyl-cinnamate (PVCi) which is well known as a photo crosslinkable polymer to align liquid crystal (LC) molecules by a linearly polarized UV (LPUV) light exposure has been reported that the easy axis is perpendicular to the rubbing direction. However, we clarified that LCs without polar groups align parallel to the rubbing direction on the rubbed PVCi surface. In this study, the easy axis of the rubbed PVCi surface are investigated by using mixture of LCs with and without polar groups, for example 5CB and MBBA. An azimuthal anchoring strength can also be controlled by the mixture ratio of LCs with and without polar groups.
