Time Domain Simulations of Air Discharge based on FDTD-SPICE Direct Linking Method

Abstract(in English) Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can be roughly categorized into contact and air discharges. Especially, in full-wave analysis of electromagnetic fields excited by air discharge, a suitable modeling of spark channel for an excitation source of the fields is required. In this work, we apply a FDTD-SPICE direct linking method into canonical problems of air discharge. The method deals with a full-wave model for structures of analytical objects and SPICE equivalent circuit models based on spark resistance formulas for spark channel. Both models are directly linked in time domain. Unlike existing methods, this approach has the following advantages: treatment of a number of spark resistance formulas and no extraction of impedance for the structures.
