A study for TCP performance in roadside to vehicle communication with OFDM cooperative transmission

Abstract(in English) In the near future, demands for accessing the Internet through the roadside to vehicle communication system will be increased. On the other hands, roadside to vehicle communication systems using wireless networks suffer from a lot of transmission errors. While most of applications on the Internet use Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). Therefore, transmission errors over wireless channels cause performance degradation in the Internet access through the roadside to vehicle communication system. So transmission errors must be reduced in order to achieve Internet access using TCP through the roadside to vehicle communication system. In this paper, we focus on an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmission technology. In the proposed system, some base stations transmit a same OFDM signal at almost same instance. Therefore, vehicles can demodulate some same OFDM signals from different base stations. Vehicles can obtain path diversity effect through some different base stations. From the numerical results, we can find that the proposed system can improve the TCP throughput performance.
