| Abstract(in English) | Cognitive radio and software defined radio technologies in ITS applications are presented. Many kinds of radio communication systems are utilized to realize safety and comfort driving and to reduce environmental loads in ITS applications. In the beginning, main research issues were focused on integration and cost reduction of many radio communication equipments by applying software defined radio technologies. After that, cars have been developing as a mobile information terminal by telematics based on 3G networks and navigation systems with high information processing performance, with the developments in radio communication technology. In recent years, many movements such as smart grid including EV/PHV, TV white space, cloud computing, smart phone using in a car are coming up. Moreover, practical services of vehicle-to-infrastructure and vehicle-to-vehicle communication systems are coming close in Japan, the US and Europe. The applications of information communication in ITS reach a turning point toward 'connected vehicle'. Cognitive radio technologies have been mainly investigated from the viewpoint of radio communication environment and network operational side. For the future, the investigations of application-, user- and contents-oriented cognitive radio network are expected to become more significant. In this presentation, recent research activities about ITS communications are introduced and future expectations for cognitive radio technologies in ITS applications are expressed. |
