Abstract(in English) A multi-mode terminal that equips some wireless modules always selects Wi-Fi system if that has a policy of selecting Wi-Fi system when the terminal is in a Wi-Fi hot spot. But there is a situation that the throughput of 3G system is higher than that of Wi-Fi system because of channel congestion: many Wi-Fi devices are using same frequency band. These days, public Wi-Fi service is becoming popular and the number of AP outside is increasing dramatically. As a result, it is ordinary that an STA can connect some APs. Considering above situations, we propose the passive measuring method to estimated Wi-Fi throughput regarding CSMA/CA. This proposed method can estimate Wi-Fi throughput accurately (RMSE of the proposed method is 29%~33% of conventional methods). This method enables that an STA selects Wi-Fi only when the throughput of Wi-Fi is higher than other systems and an STA selects the AP that the throughput of the AP would be higher than other APs.
