Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) By actively notifying NAT (Network Address Translation) configuration to terminals and let the terminals help NAT operation, end to end transparent NAT can be realized, which can be a solution to IP address exhaustion. It is shown that, without replacing existing NAT gateways, NAT with end to end transparency can be realized, through only for TCP and UDP, if the NAT gateways are UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) capable and if terminals perform reverse translation of NAT. It is also shown that information supplied through UPnP can be used for automatic configuration of the terminals. Application programs on terminals over TCP and UDP work as is as if they are running terminals directly connected to the public Internet and it is not necessary to modify them for UPnP.
