Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In a catastrophic disaster such as an earthquake, it is crucial that victims who are injured or trapped in collapsed buildings be rescued without delay. However, it would be difficult to retrieve the victim's information due to the collapse of the existing mobile network. The paper then proposes a rescue message propagation application (SOSCast) in order to obtain the victim's information over an unstable communication infrastructure. To propagate the victim's rescue messages, SOSCast applies the Store-Carry-Forward routing scheme utilizing the Bluetooth device of a smartphone. By collecting rescue messages from victims, a rescue team is able to acquire the victims' locations by the GPS information of the victims and the carriers of the rescue message. The basic evaluation demonstrated that SOSCast is able to estimate the victim's location even when the victim's GPS information is wrong or is not obtained.
