Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes one of directions for further developing pattern recognition technologies which the authors considered based on his experiences of their commercialization. For practical pattern recognition technologies, the three criteria should be satisfied such as return on investment, performance assurance, and value creation. On the way of technology development, some restrictions on utilizing an application should be well designed and they should be relaxed for its development. An important issue is what restrictions are selected. Furthermore, a total system should be designed to satisfy the criteria and a limited size of database should be well used in order to satisfy the criteria. This paper describes some examples of practical pattern recognition applications and proposes one of directions for the next generation pattern recognition.
