Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Symbol-by-symbol a posteriori probability (APP) decoder for non-binary low-density parity-check (LDPC) coding and iterative decoding system in perpendicular magnetic recording channel is studied. In this report, we evaluated the performance of the symbol-by-symbol APP decoder using non-binary LDPC code over Galois field of GF(2^8) by the computer simulation. The result shows that the non-binary LDPC coding and iterative decoding system using the symbol-by-symbol APP decoder provides the better performance compared with that using the conventional bit-by-bit APP decoder.
