Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We develop a map building method based on a laser range finder. To suit the wide requirement of many users is difficult because it is difficult to build a map in variety environments with high accuracy by using only a typical autonomous scan matching algorithm. When the typical method cannot build a map, manual correction is required to build a map for a practical application. In this paper, we present a user interface for map building. In this interface, an automatic scan matching method is performed usually. When a failure of scan matching occurs, manual correction of map is available. The accuracy is maintained highly in spite of the low-cost correction because manual correction is required only at the time of failure. We confirmed that our method is able to build a map in 11 seconds, in the case where an autonomous scan matching algorithm cannot build a simulated map whose size is 400m^2.
