Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a Radio-On-Demand (ROD) wireless access point for efficient use of electrical power by using enhanced sleep and wake-up functions. Although the sleep mode in our ROD system can drastically reduce the power consumption, it is likely to increase the waiting time for applications. Frequent cycles of sleep and wake-up sequences may cause the increase of waiting time and need further optimization. This paper analyzes the effects of our proposed automatic sleep control scheme, which achieves short waiting time while keeping power consumption low. Our proposed sleep estimation method has been evaluated by using wireless network traffic that has been captured in public-areas. Simulation results show that our proposed simple scheme reduces the waiting time by half while maintaining significant reduced power consumption.
