Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We are developing a microsatellite with a circularly polarized synthetic aperture radar (CP-SAR) sensor. Traditionally, SAR image processing is made on the earth. In the method, large size of SAR images obtained from the sensor are disadvantageous in large amounts of storage on aerial platforms such as airplane and satellite, and long communication time. Our system processes SAR images with an on-board SAR image processing system on aerial platforms, which brings on various good effects such as reducing of the SAR image size. This paper shows an SAR image processing system which we are making for a preliminary experiment on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This system is implemented on a Xilinx ML605 evaluation board equipped with Virtex-6 FPGA and one 2 GB DDR3 DRAM and it can process SAR images with the size of 6,144 x 19,904 pixels.
