Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Microwave tomography is an inverse scattering problem which determines the shape, location, and profiles of material parameters of unknown objects from the knowledge of scattered fields measured outside the objects. First, we describe the properties of inverse scattering problems different from direct scattering problems. Then we describe the Forward-Backward Time-Stepping method as a time domain inverse scattering analysis. Finally, we consider a microwave mammography technique for early breast cancer detection as an example of its various practical applications.
