Character Strings Detection Using Omni-Directional Camera with Edge Information

Abstract(in English) Various studies have been made about the character detection and character recognition. However, fast and accurate character strings detection from scene image is still a difficult problem. In this paper, as an attempt to detect any character string in the environment, we propose a method to quickly detect character strings from scene images acquired by an omni-directional camera. The proposed method achieves high-speed detection from a large image and video information by using edge information. Experimental results show that the proposed method can detect character strings to some extent.
