Strain-Induced Effects on the Electronic Band Structure of AlN

Abstract(in English) The top of the valence band structure in Wurtzite crystals is split to the irreducible representation of Γ_1 and Γ_5 by the crystal-field interaction. In the case of AlN, the energetic deference between Γ_1 and Γ_5 by this interaction are so large that the strain-induced effects between them may be neglected. Therefore, the strain-induced effects on the eigenstate of Γ_1 can be described by two of the deformation potentials. In previous studies, these values have been experimentally determined in the framework of the quasicubic approximation. In this study, we determined two of the deformation potentials in AlN without the quasicubic approximation by reflectance spectroscopy under uniaxial stress.
