Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) People with different cultural backgrounds have different styles in their practice in conversational interactions. A comparative examination of Japanese, English and Arabic dialogues in Mister O corpus, cross-linguistic data collected under a common task setting is presented. A parametric conception for capturing their differences is then proposed as an intermediate level theory connecting the general human cognitive capacities and the historical idiosyncrasies in interactions. Possible contribution to the idea of "Linguistics of BA" is also discussed.
