Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) WEP is a security protocol in a wireless LAN network, and its vulnerability has been pointed out. Many key recovering attacks against WEP were proposed with using its vulnerability. These attacks can recover a WEP key easily by observing about 20,000 packets. If we want to use WEP, we should update the key whenever a certain number of packets are communicated. For immunization against key recovery attacks, it is the best way of updating the key every 10,000 packets. However 10,000 packets are very few, so it is not realistic to update the key every 10,000 packets. In this paper, we propose secure WEP operation against key recovery attacks. This technique works only using a few packets and uses approximately 100,000 packets before next key update. Furthermore we theoretically evaluate our technique to manage secure WEP communication.
