Abstract(in English) | We have been studying a novel OTDR measurement method using a macrobending indicator to measure the cause of the loss in vicinity of the fiber splice point accurately. This paper summarizes the study results. First, we describe the definition and characteristics of a macrobending indicator. Then, the behavior of a macrobending indicator for two cases, i.e., excess loss by macrobending and high splice loss with core axis misalignment, is discussed. Finally, we make it clear that the method is possible to differentiate whether the cause of loss is due to macrobending or high splice loss. |
