A Study on Structural Dependency of Micro-bending Loss in Large-Aeff Holey Fibers

Abstract(in English) Micro-bending loss dependence on holey fiber structures with Aeff of 150μm^2 is demonstrated. By evaluating the normalized air-hole diameter dependence and layer number dependence of micro-bending loss properties of fabricated holey fibers, we demonstrate the micro-bending loss tendency of large-mode-area holey fibers. It is indicated that the air-holes have a functionality of absorbing micro-bending loss induced from the outside, leading to the significant reduction of micro-bending loss.
