Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, many lightning damages to telecommunication equipment which have multiple telecommunication ports, such as home gateway are occurred. It is thought that this lightning damage was caused by induced lightning surge current via power lines and telecommunication lines in the house. There have been many studies on lightning protection between the power ports and analog telecommunication ports and basic lightning protection technologies have been established. In addition, there is a way to protect the equipment from the surge current flowing between power ports and LAN ports by using additional lightning protection circuits. However, it is required large space to install many Gas Discharge Tubes (GDTs). And this protection method also needs costs. In this study, we produced four types of compact multi-electrode-GDT and investigated the fundamental characteristics of them.
