Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a smart charger for elecrtic vehicles, which can compensate reactive and unbalanced active powers. In the proposed smart charger, three-leg IGBTs are used for PWM rectifier. The fourth-leg performs a bidirectional chopper. The proposed smart charger can compensate the reactive and unbalanced active currents on the secondary-side of the pole-mounted distribution transformer using the constant de-capacitor voltage control, which are commonly used in active power line conditioner. The basic principle of the proposed control method is discussed in detail. The validity and excellent practicability of the proposed smart charger are confirmed by digital computer simulation using PSIM software.
