Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Optical fiber sensing has demonstrated its superiority to weak points of the traditional electric sensors. Many types of optical fiber sensors are proposed according to the modulation parameter of incident light, e.g., intensity, phase, wavelength, and frequency. We proposed optical pulse correlation sensing system in which the sensing signals are the time drift values of the optical pulses caused by the temperature- or strain-induced extension along the optical fiber transmission line. This sensing system uses second harmonic generation (SHG) to detect the magnitude of the time drift. Unfortunately, the SHG signal is not only sensitive to the time drift, but also sensitive to the polarization fluctuation of optical pulses. In this study, we stabilize the SHG signal sensitivity in the polarization fluctuation utilizing the unpolarized state.
