QoE Comparison of Threshold Selection Interfaces in the QoE-Based Video Output Scheme SCS

Abstract(in English) This report studies threshold selection interfaces in the QoE-Based Video Output Scheme SCS (Switching between error Concealment and frame Skipping) for audio-video IP transmission in terms of QoE. We compare four threshold selection interfaces for SCS: (1) a constant threshold value of 100% (It means pure error concealment and the user cannot select any other threshold values), (2) selecting a threshold value by four radio buttons, (3) choosing a threshold value by a slide bar, and (4) selection of one out of two modes by two buttons (a threshold value is set according to the mode). We conducted subjective experiments on the interfaces for combinations of two contents and three picture patterns. We assessed QoE multidimensionally by the method of successive categories. As a result, we observe that the interfaces (2), (3), and (4) can achieve higher overall audio and video QoE than the interface (1). In addition, we clarify the characteristics of each interface and evaluate effects of the interfaces on QoE.
