Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) VoD services in which users can request content delivery on demand has been widely used. In VoD services, the demand for content widely changes on daily scale. Because service provider is required to maintain stable service during peak hours, reducing the server load at peak hours is an important problem. Therefore, we proposed to reduce the server load without increasing user response time by multicasting content to all users prior to requests, independently of actual requests. Through numerical evaluation using actual VoD access log data, we clarified the effectiveness of the proposed method on reducing the server load. However, the influence of the multicast pre-distribution on the network load has not been investigated. Therefore, in this paper, we evaluate the impact of the multicast pre-distribution on the network load using some network topologies of ISPs.
