Relational status moderate the relationship between social cues and masculinity in male facial attractiveness

Abstract(in English) Abstract Current research is aimed to reveal the moderation effect of relational status in the interaction between social cues(gaze direction and emotional expression) and masculinity in male facial attractiveness from the evolutional perspective. Female raters rated attractiveness of male faces which contained social cues (expression: neutral or happy and gaze direction: direct or averted), and were asked whether they have romantic partner. The result suggested that relational status moderate the relationship between social cues and masculinity, especially, females who did not have romantic partner showed the sensitivity to the social cues of masculine male face in attractiveness judgments.
