Abstract(in English) | To elucidate the specialty of human face recognition, we evaluated the psychophysical estimates and induced electroencephalographic (EEG) oscillations during binocular rivalry in which either human face, monkey face or house was presented to each eye. In the psychophysical study, "human face" was perceived more frequently than "monkey face" or "house". In the 128 ch-high density EEG study, alpha-band amplitude (8-13 Hz) was decreased over the right occitpito-temporal region before the subjects perceived "human face" than the other categories. Results of psychophysics suggest that "human face" is recognized preattentively and affects perceptual frequencies of binocular rivalry. The EEG findings could reflect the human face specific processing during binocular rivalry. |
