Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Several differential amplifiers for 60-GHz applications reported since 2008 had superior PAE performances and small chip sizes. These shared a common design feature: transformers for differential coupling and impedance matching. As part of an effort to further improve PAE, this report compares a single-end 1-stage amplifier to a differential amplifier by simulation for closely similar design conditions. Both designs showed PAE greater than 15% between 57 GHz and 66 GHz. The differential design had PAE higher by about 2% and maximum of 22%.
