Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Highly realistic image reproduction of metallic gloss is difficult because it has high intensity and inherent color. In this paper, metallic objects were captured by high-dynamic-range imaging technique using a six-band camera, and reproduced by various tone mapping methods. The reproduced images were evaluated by a pair comparison method. The result showed that the fidelity of gloss and the reality of metallic objects were improved by applying tone mapping method, especially for complex gloss with relatively low intensity. It was also found out that the evaluation results were affected by whether the real objects could be referred at the time of evaluation.
