Improvement of 3D Shape Reconstruction by Position Estimation of Occluding Contours

Abstract(in English) This paper describes 3D shape reconstruction of real object from the multiview video in order to precise free viewpoint video. It is necessary to collect points existing on the real object surface for 3D shape reconstruction. However, only a few points can be utilized in the conventional scheme, so the reconstructed shape is not necessarily precise. Therefore, we propose a new shape reconstruction scheme by utilizing the sufficient number of surface points extracted from a tangent line from a camera principal point to the real object surface. Experimental results confirmed that enabled more precise shape reconstruction could be realized by the proposed scheme.
