Abstract(in English) The main topic addressed in this paper is to support graduate students of diverse backgrounds to understand basic courses by using a lecture archive system which systematically stores streaming data of actual lectures and delivers them as complementary learning materials on the campus network. This paper describes basic functions and an algorithm of movie shortening system for the lecture archive system in order to facilitate use of the lecture archives in School of Information Science, JAIST.
