Theoretical Consideration of Unsymmetry for Balanced Circuits

Abstract(in English) Mixed-mode S-parameter is one of the evaluation parameter of unsymmetry for balanced circuits. We clearly indicate that the off-diagonal term S_ and LCL in ITU-T recommendation are in the relation of LCL=-20log|S_|. And as an example, we theoretically derive the mixed-mode S-parameters of a slightly-unsymmetrical coupled transmission line. The approximate expression shows that the off-diagonal term is larger as the symmetry is worse. And in case of electrically short and high characteristic impedance, we confirm that it is reduced to the expression of the lumped common mode filter.
