Basic Field Experiment of Multi-BS Cooperative Transmission Control

Abstract(in English) For next generation mobile communication systems such as IMT-Advanced, CoMP (Coordinated Multi-Point transmission) technique is attracting much attention, with which mainly cell-edge throughput is improved by coordinated signal transmission from multiple base stations. We have proposed a sector configuration, in which the three sectors belonging to a base station equipment are placed on different antenna sites via optical fiber. With this sector configuration, we can realize "inter-cell cooperation function" by "inter-sector cooperation function", the control of which is relatively easier. We have conducted a basic field experiment to demonstrate the performance of cooperative MIMO on the proposed sector configuration in Kita-Kyushu, Fukuoka. We describe the results of the basic field experiment in this paper.
