Abstract(in English) In order to optimize three dimensional optical waveguide devices, the wavefront matching method using semivectorial finite diference beam propagation method is investigated. In this approach, the refractive index distribution is determined to match the wavefront of forward propagating wave of incidence and backward propagating one of desired output wave at any point. As examples, a waveguide bend and a branching waveguide are optimized and the applicability of this approach to strongly guiding waveguides is comfirmed.
