Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The aim of this study is to examine roles of visual information during ensemble performance by focusing on coordination. Discrepancy in synchronization between piano duo performers was measured under various visually limited conditions. Experiment 1 explored performance under four different visual-contact conditions: non face-to-face, head alone, whole body except head and face-to-face. The findings indicated that the discrepancy between performers was small enough except under non face-to-face condition and that such discrepancy did not vary depending on conditions. Experiment 2 investigated effects of movement of head. The discrepancy between performers under the fixed head condition was smaller than that under non face-to-face condition whereas the discrepancy between performers under the fixed head condition was larger than that under the free head condition. These results suggest that cues included in head (e.g. gaze) contribute to coordination as with performers' movement.
