Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study investigates whether the sentence processor utilizes word order information (i.e. which NP appears at which point in the course of input strings) when predicting sentence final verbs. A sentence-completion task was employed to examine whether word order affects the sentence processor's prediction of the verbs. The result revealed that word order does have influence on such prediction, which suggests that the sentence processor makes use of word order information when it predicts what type of verb will appear in the sentence final position.
