Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a silica-based based waveguide that integrates beam expanding and collimating function. This beam collimator as a whole takes the form of a tapered waveguide. However, stripes arranged similar to a double-concave lens are introduced near the edge of the device. By utilizing this collimator in a MEMS-based WSXC, we can reduce the number of bulky optical elements and simplify the configuration. Beam waist as large as 283 (am were achieved at a free-space propagation distance of 122mm with a 17mm long collimator. The horizontal plane loss for two collimators placed as an emitter and a receiver was below 0.15dB.
