Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is difficult to specify the lithology and the internal structure from seismic velocity structures obtained by the seismic tomography, because they usually have large error and uncertainty. In this study, we try to image the spatial distributions of porosity and pore geometry by using the Markov random field model, which is a type of Bayesian stochastic method that is often applied to image analysis. First, synthetic inversion tests are conducted in order to investigate the effectiveness and validity of the proposed model. Then, we apply the model to the natural data sets of the seismic velocity structures in the mantle wedge beneath the Northeast Japan.
