Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Pre-equalization technology as the next-generation transmitter architecture is reviewed. The required characteristics to the optical devices with pre-equalization are clarified. The signal quality degrades by finite extinction ratio of an optical modulator, because pre-equalized complex electric fields localize around the center of the constellation. For the application of pre-equalization technology to higher speed transmission systems with higher order modulation formats, it is important to enhance the sampling rate of a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with finer bit resolution. We show the key architecture of the DAC to improve the performance for high-speed operation.
