Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Super high bit-rate transmission has been investigated to achieve the higher bit-rate in mobile communications. In order to verify its feasibility, a transmission experimental system that can achieve 5 Gbps throughput by using radio circuits with the radio frequency (RF) of 11 GHz and 4×4 MIMO-OFDM with 400 MHz bandwidth has been developed. The experimental system consists of (i) 11 GHz band transmit and receive radio circuit boards, (ii) FPGA boards that include 800-MHz sampling DAC or ADC, and (iii) CPU boards that perform transmission and reception processings in offline mode. Their boards are inserted into compact PCI boxes, and realize software defined radio architecture by using the programmable devices. This report introduces both hardware and software of the experimental system. The software can be divided into the software on FPGA which is written by VHDL and that on CPU which is written by the C++ language. In addition, the latter software consists of MIMO-OFDM transmission and reception processings, baseband (BB) calibration that achieves higher accuracy of the 800 MHz sampling BB circuits, and RF calibration that compensates for imperfection of the 11 GHz band radio circuits, and this report also explains them in detail. Moreover, throughput performance of the 5 Gbps transmission that the experimental system measures by adding fading and noise generation to the reception processing on CPU is shown. |
