Abstract(in English) Traffic explosion becomes a serious issue in accordance with penetration of smartphones. Traffic caused by such mobile devices is very large than those observed in legacy mobile phones. WiFi offloading which is a technique to bypass part of traffic flying over 3G to wireless LAN networks has been given a great attention by many mobile carriers. This paper overviews background of the traffic explosion and identifies the most critical issues when realizing WiFi offloading. The paper also addresses importance of new network services over WiFi offloading system.
