A Relocation Planning Method for Railway Cars in Final Assembly Shop

Abstract(in English) The authors have examined a method that makes a movement plan for relocation of the railway cars in preparation for the final assembly. It obtains the solution through three steps. At first, it calculates the order constraints of the railway car movements based on the arrangements before and after relocation. Secondly, it introduces the movements that temporarily put the railway cars in another line to avoid deadlocks of movements, and finally obtains the movement sequence to do the relocation for minimum time according to the calculated order constraints by using genetic algorithm (GA). The order constraints are solved in advance and then the movement sequence can easily be decided with GA. As the result, the developed system takes shorter time for planning relocation than an expert does.
